2. THURSDAY

Title: Design Activism
What: This years MakerLab is about Human Rights. Through the lab we will explore the opportunities and challenges of having a logo for Human Rights. The logo was crowd-sourced last year and now is open for all to use. We believe that the best way to use it is to make something about Human Rights, to take action by our self.We can’t expect anymore that others will do it for us, and at the same time we realize that just when actions are collective we do have an impact that disrupts the way things are and creates the opportunity for the new to arise.
We are looking for creatives from all disciplines that want to take the opportunity to reflect the way Design affects Human Rights and design together a mass-intervention to happen within the 5 days of the event. We invite participants to spend the day at DMY International Design Festival.
At 16:00, workshop participants will meet at the MakerLab for Human Rights to identify a challenge and we will have a Hold Up to solve this challenge determined by the participants!
When: Thursday 7th: 16:00 -> 18:00

Name & Contact: Pedro Pineda & Kate Ettinger

Title: Misfits, Dinner in process
What: Eat Nature is a workshop put on by the two initiators from Culinary Misfits, Lea and Tanja. The Culinary Misfits Project explores the intersection of design and sustainability with a primary focus on food culture and how we can be inspired to rethink natural foods.
The two designers use mainly veggies, Culinary Misfits, that would have otherwise been left behind on the farmers fields because consumers too often view these “odd” vegetables as being mutant and strange, although in reality they are perfectly normal and nutritious. Lea and Tanja endeavor to teach people about these nutritious vegetables while using them as the basis for their delicious organic recipes.
In this workshop they will share those recipes and prepare together with the help of veggie-loving-makers a delicious dinner buffet.

NOTE: Dinner participants should, please, bring their own spoon and plates (or a recycled glass e.g. mustard, jam or pickles glasses)!
